February recall of about 2.6 million Chevrolet Cobalt and Saturn Ion cars due to their implication in the defective ignition switch made them well-known and discussed, not from a good standpoint though. The problem regards to faulty ignition switches, which possibly can stop mid-driving the engine ensuing total loss of critical safety systems (e.g. power steering, power brakes and airbags).

2004 Saturn Ion car accident victims of have reopened their case against GM corporation it became public the manufacturer to have known about the defect in switches which might cause engine shutdown while driving, for at least 11 years. Now they are blaming them of committing fraud.

Candice Anderson, 21 – who was driving the Saturn Ion, went off the road and hit a tree. Mikale Erickson, 25 – her passenger and boyfriend got killed, while Candice herself is still suffering from multiple injuries. GM has settled the case and let the driver get indicted and prosecuted for a felony offense.

Robert Hilliard – Erickson’s family and Anderson’s attorney comments:
GM placed one hundred percent of the blame on a 21-year-old innocent girl and ended up paying $75,000 to settle the entire case.
